The Wu style uses specific hand form with importance on parallel footwork, while some form of training involves usage of feet closer to each other than other Tai Chi styles. The focus during the hand techniques is mainly on tumbling, grappling, jumping, joint locks and breaks at preliminary level, and sword fencing, knife fencing at advanced levels.

The history of Tai Chi is ancient and interesting. Chen Wangting of the Chen family introduced Tai Chi in Chen style, later passed down as a family secret for many generations. Chinese who later acquired knowledge of them, contributed many other variations and styles of the original style to the rest of the society.

Sun style is the most gentle form of all the Tai Chi styles using open palm and circular movements throughout the performance, and eliminating vigorous movements such as leaping, falling and crouching. This form is mostly used for martial arts therapy to promote wellness.

As exemplified in Tai Chi, mind body medicine is focused on the connections between the mind, body, spirit, which encourage calm and a healthy connection with body and thought. Anyone interested in pursuing the benefits of this approach can be encouraged by its growing popularity. People are turning to Tai Chi, whether they are frustrated by the lack of progress or satisfaction in other conventional techniques or just want to try something different.

Even more encouraging, some recent medical facilities are incorporating alternative treatments such as this into their health care systems. Physicians are seeing the proof that the natural method can really help people since they can be delivered cheaply and less invasive. Also, once people get over the pain factor, they find that Tai Chi is an effective way of keeping common ailments like cold and fever at bay, and they do not go back.
